If you are a CS Executive or CS
Professional student following the old syllabus, here's what you need to know:
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has announced that June 2024 will be the last attempt for the CS Executive old course students to appear for exams under the old syllabus and December 2024 will be ladt attempt for CS Professional Exams . Difference
between the old and new syllabus
The ICSI has introduced a revised CS
syllabus, catering to the CS Executive and Professional Programs, in 2023. This
updated syllabus aims to be more comprehensive and in tune with the
contemporary corporate environment and legal framework. It significantly
emphasizes emerging aspects like environmental, social, and governance (ESG),
strategic management, corporate finance, and corporate restructuring.
The new syllabus consists of Seven
papers for the CS Executive Program and Seven papers for the CS Professional
Program. The core subjects for the CS course give students the essential
knowledge and competencies required for a successful career as company
secretaries. These include understanding the legal and regulatory framework
governing companies, managing corporate finances, and ensuring companies'
compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In addition to the core
subjects, students can choose elective subjects covering domains like banking,
insurance, and intellectual property law. This flexibility enables them to
specialize in areas that align with their interests.
